Europe aims to capture Chinese market

In 2010, Chinese outbound travel and tourism reached record levels. The total number of outbound tourists reached 57.39 million, an increase of more than 20% on 2009.

China is now the largest outbound tourist source-country in Asia having overtaken Japan. Official Chinese statistics predict a further strong growth in outbound tourism in 2011 with around 65 million visitor trips in the year.

A study found the number of Chinese outbound tourists traveling to Europe is predicted to reach 4.5 million by 2015 and 8.6 million by 2020, giving the European tourism industry a potential income of €2 billion.*

The Chinese presence is already being felt in Europe with Chinese tourists proving to be high-spending travelers.

COTTM (China Outbound Travel & Tourism Market) has been designed to help assist destinations, travel products and services to gain access to the Chinese outbound market.
We will be exhibiting on stand AS 781 at WTM, London, please come and meet with the COTTM team to find out how you can benefit by being at COTTM.
