JW Marriott Marquis Dubai to be world’s tallest hotel

The JW Marriott Marquis Dubai could be debuting in the fourth quarter of 2012 as the world’s tallest dedicated hotel building. The 1,164-foot building will have 1,608 guestrooms and be just 85 feet shorter than the Empire State Building.

The hotel will cater specifically to the meetings industry with two ballrooms, 24 meeting rooms and 54,895 square feet of event space. For dining and entertainment, the new hotel will offer nine restaurants and five lounges and entertainment venues.

For those looking for a good view, the Vault lounge on the 71st and 72nd floors will have panoramic views of the city. Another unnamed venue will have live music daily. For food, guests will have many options including a boutique steakhouse, Italian coastal cuisine, an Arabic restaurant and an Indian restaurant. Guests can also relax and rejuvenate at the 16,000-square-foot Saray Spa, which will offer Arabic treatments. The hotel will also have a pool deck on the seventh floor with a 32-meter pool.
